Eco-Friendly Energy

Image
For today’s blog I will be talking about people changing to eco-friendly energy sources. I wanted to specifically talk about how eco-friendly energy would benefit the environment. I have wanted to write about this topic because I think it’s very important. This issue is talked about a lot but really never put into action. From the Solar Power Nerd website, it states “ Currently, the renewable energy sector provides almost 10 million jobs to workers internationally.” This made me think about why more people don’t use eco-friendly energy if it provides jobs. Especially in the world of COVID-19, where people need jobs. Most people haven’t switched to eco-friendly energy because it’s easier to use what we’ve been using for so long instead of switching to something new. Eco-friendly energy would make the environment much better, it would also lessen the amount of emissions being released into the air from coal. Some eco-friendly energy sources are wind energy, solar energ...

Clean Water

This week, for the “What’s Happening Here? What’s Happening There?” post, I wanted to focus on this specific issue within my topic about how the quality of clean water is very important.      The Conservation Law Foundation website provides information about how PFAS pollution is a big problem in New Hampshire. There has been documentation of problems with PFAS in Dover, Rochester and Hampton. PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and are a group of man-made chemicals that includes PFOA, PFOS, GenX, and many other chemicals. PFAS in New Hampshire water isn’t fatal normally but can cause health issues over time.      Clean water is also an issue in Africa. Africa doesn’t necessarily have the same problems as New Hampshire, Africa’s water problem is a lot more detrimental. From the Water Pro ject website, it states that “Young children die from dehydration and malnutrition, results of suffering from diarrheal illnesses that could be preve...

Eco-Friendly Packaging

Image
This week, I watched a TED talk called "A radical plan to end plastic waste". The main idea of this TED talk is that plastic is very harmful to the earth and can be dealth with differently. (Bennet, Haley, Turner Kristy)     One idea that I found interesting was if big companies or companies in general decided to change the ways they package things, it could make a big difference. I thought this was interesting because companies can have such a big impact on the earth and how they transport things.     This made me wonder how companies could start using and benefiting from switching to eco-friendly packaging options. On the website "Supply Chain Game Changer" I found more information about how companies can switch to eco-friendly packaging. There are many benefits to switching to sustainable packaging that companies could use. (Levins, Cory)          The BXP Magazine states "The majority of American consumers care about eco-friendly packaging...

Preventing Climate Change

This week, I read "What you can do to help prevent climate change, according to experts" By Julia Jacobo.       The main Idea of this article was that people need to start taking action so they can help prevent climate change.  (Ebbs, Stephanie)      One idea I found interesting was how the planet is emmiting nine gigations of carbon every year, and continues to increase. I thought this was interesting because I never had any idea that this was happening and how much of an impact it has been having on the earth.           This idea made me wonder what things, I, as a minor, could do to help, so I looked up more infomation about this topic. On the website "American Mueseum of Natural History" I found more information about things kids can do to help. One piece on information I found was that you can convince people around you to be more economically friendly. I think this idea is very important becau...
