Preventing Climate Change

This week, I read "What you can do to help prevent climate change, according to experts" By Julia Jacobo.

The main Idea of this article was that people need to start taking action so they can help prevent climate change.

(Ebbs, Stephanie)

One idea I found interesting was how the planet is emmiting nine gigations of carbon every year, and continues to increase. I thought this was interesting because I never had any idea that this was happening and how much of an impact it has been having on the earth.

This idea made me wonder what things, I, as a minor, could do to help, so I looked up more infomation about this topic. On the website "American Mueseum of Natural History" I found more information about things kids can do to help. One piece on information I found was that you can convince people around you to be more economically friendly. I think this idea is very important because some people think kids can't do anything because they're too young. It's important to introduce children to these problems so they can use their voice to help influence others.

(McShane, Jennifer)

Lots of people don't use their voice and don't take action to help prevent climate change. The Ithican states "Despite the impending threat to health and security that climate change poses, politicians and voters are not talking about the environment." Climate change is a very real problem that should be talked about and not avoided. If it's not talked about and prevented who knows what will happen to the earth and the people on it.

  1. Jessie, what, exactly, can kids do to prompt others to be more environmentally friendly? Offering specifics would be helpful. The focus of your post is fine but the content is a little general. Also, where did you use your first source?
